Message from the EAM President

Ed Christensen, Monmouth University

Spring into Summer and Summer into Fall -- here we are again staring the start of a new year sooner than expected it seems.  Since the successful meeting last year in New Brunswick, things have been moving along for The Power of One, The Power of Many EAM Conference at the Crystal City Marriott in Washington, D.C., May 14-17, 2008

(http://www.eaom.org/AnnualMeetings/WashingtonDC2008/).  Liz Davis and her committee are working hard on local arrangements and Laurel Goulet is moving forward with the program.  There is a great deal of information already posted so visit the website for updated information.  Submit your papers, workshops, and symposia to the 2008 meeting!

Let me take this opportunity to update you on a few items that are in process.  We will begin our nomination process for new board members and leadership earlier this year as we continue to increase membership involvement and the ease of doing so through initiatives such as our electronic voting.  Dilip Mirchandani and I are working on the future sites for our next meetings with explorations of Portland, Pittsburg, Hartford, and Harrisburg thus far.  We are also looking into refreshing and updating our website and I would welcome comments and suggestions.  OMJ continues its success and I encourage you to visit at http://www1.wnec.edu/omj/ and read the wonderful papers that are being published.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that this organization succeeds because of our members who participate in various roles such as authors, presenters, reviewers, track chairs, local arrangements, directors, and many other positions of leadership.  Be involved in the EAM, continue it’s standing as a regional affiliate of the Academy of Management, and help make EAM stronger than ever.
