| EAM White Paper Series Ed Christensen, EAM President Monmouth University |
The Eastern Academy of Management (EAM) White Paper Series applies management research to the real life issues and challenges of management practice. A strategic initiative of the EAM is to better bridge this gap and "make a difference". The EAM White Paper Series was initiated by Eric Kessler (EAM President 2005-2006) to apply scholarly thought to critical issues of business management. The second issue of the White Paper Series will be published in May 2008. This initiative is being continued by Shanthi Gopalakrishnan as an important element to addressing the relevance of the EAM. |
There are four articles by prominent EAMers in this White Paper Series. The first paper titled “You’re an Organizational Development Practitioner-Scholar. Can you contribute to Organizational Theory” by Jean Bartunek suggests means for Organization Development practitioner scholars to forge stronger links between their work and academic theory. The second paper by Sandra Waddock titled “The Development of Corporate Responsibility/Corporate Citizenship” focuses on the history and evolution of corporate citizenship over time. The third paper “Enabling New Careers of the 21st Century” by Freida Reitman and Joy Schneer discusses how careers have evolved and changed over time and some of the contextual factors that have been responsible for the change. The fourth and final paper is by Dilip Mirchandani and John Ikerd, “Building and maintaining sustainable organizations” deals with how organizations can build a path toward a sustainable future. This will be the first issue published by Palgrave Macmillan. |
