Learning Community - sharing of theory and applications through interactive presentations of papers, symposia, case studies and creative formats; best paper awards; doctoral consortium.
Collegial - multiple interactions with academic and practitioner colleagues facilitated at meetings; a wide variety of institutions represented on the Board of Directors; an open business meeting encouraging all members to participate; plus social hours and "after hours" activities and discussions both scheduled and valued.

Inclusive - all aspects of professional careers are valued and reflected in our programs: academic research, graduate and undergraduate teaching, practitioner applications, international relationships.

Diversity - race, gender, ethnicity, type of college / university / practitioner organization are all valued for inclusion in the program, committee membership, officers, and Board.

Accessible - meetings in various locations throughout the East; officers and Board members eager to hear from members; volunteer reviewers, session chairs and discussants; committee work valued; easy to meet others in conference sessions and social hours.

Advancement - new members actively encouraged to become involved through nomination to offices and committees work; often rewarded with election to other offices or to the Board.

Innovative - variety of new categories in annual program, e. g., works in progress, case writing sessions, experiential learning sessions; network of affiliated organizations; first regional academy to institute a regularly scheduled international conference; created specific awards related to teaching and case study.

BENEFITS OF EAM MEMBERSHIP
EAM provides a friendly, informal, supportive environment which facilitates informal and formal contact with individuals committed to the advancement of management. EAM presents a variety of opportunities for involvement in the profession of management and management education. As the eastern regional professional management association of the Academy of Management, EAM provides a networking connection to the National Academy. EAM also sponsors the Sage Publications journal, Group & Organization Management, which allows EAM members to receive a 30% discount on subscriptions. EAM members can be found participating in and involved with the following:
Presenting papers, exercises, cases, and concepts
Reviewing papers
Interactive sessions
Attending sponsored international conference
Serving as EAM (and National Academy) officers, directors, and fellows
Participating in activities of one or more of the three affiliated groups
Serving as Chair of membership, program, or affiliated groups
Serving on ad hoc committees
Leading or attending a doctoral consortium
Receiving feedback on potential journal articles
Exchanging ideas with colleagues
Receiving financial aid for presenting a paper (for doctoral students only)
Competing for "best paper" recognition
