Manuscript Formatting for Panels & Symposia Proposals for a panel or symposium are NOT double blind reviewed. A symposium can be in either a panel format or a presenter format. A panel symposium engages a group of panelists in a formal, interactive discussion around a particular topic. A presenter symposium involves a collection of authored papers revolving around a common theme. We are especially interested in a symposium related to the Conference Theme - Creative Sparks: Igniting Innovation and Imagination in Scholarship and Pedagogy. Panel and Symposia may run for 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on space available. A panel or symposium can be submitted to only one track. In your proposal, please include:

FORMATTING FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP (PDW)
The Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) are a platform for colleagues to share knowledge and expertise and foster the professional development of workshop participants. It is an opportunity to develop innovative and creative workshops that will benefit EAM members. PDW proposals can be submitted only to the PDW track.
Proposals must be a minimum of 4 pages, maximum of 7 pages, and must include and be organized in the following order:
PDW Proposals should use the following page format: Times New Roman 12-point font, double-spaced, 1-inch (2.5cm) margin all around, 8.5" x 11" page setting. Your proposal should be submitted as ONE file in a .pdf format.
TIPS FOR A ROBUST PDW KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE As you plan your professional development (PDW) session, consider who your audience is and any special needs specific to the group or any of the individual participants. SET GOALS Set goals for the PDW session using the SMART goal setting model. In creating your SMART goals, you should also include affective adjectives that may be harder to measure, but can still inform your planning. For example, Workshop: Teaching with Documents; Goal of workshop: each participant feels prepared and will try one new technique using documents with their students. CHOOSE YOUR FOCUS Depending on your interests and expertise, you might choose to present a workshop about a specific topic, demonstrate a methodology, or a combination of both. PICK YOUR STYLE If your PDW session is longer than 20-30 minutes, it should be varied so that you can help participants access the information in different ways. Consider a hands-on activity, breakout session/large group discussion, think-pair-share, inquiry/Q&A. |
