Advance your impact by writing beyond the academy
Many academics hope to cross the border between writing for disciplinary peers and writing for public audiences—a need made more urgent by threats to higher education funding and the rise of artificial intelligence. This workshop argues that the key to reaching new readers lies in drawing on our hard-won wisdom as teachers to create better learning experiences on the page. Based on Jim’s experience as an acquisitions editor, author, and essayist and his forthcoming book Write Like You Teach (University of Chicago Press, May), this session offers insights into making scholarly work more accessible and impactful.
